 Beckhoff Automation has released Mini PCI fieldbus cards for PROFIBUS, CANopen, DeviceNet and Ethernet networks. The new generation of Beckhoff Industrial PCs, including the C69xx control cabinet PCs and the CP62xx or CP72xx Control Panel PCs, is extremely compact. With each device featuring 2 Ethernet ports, they represent high-performance Industrial PCs for Ethernet and EtherCAT-based control applications. The IPCs can optionally be extended with Mini PCI cards, or with fieldbus technology. More

Wonderware announced that Control magazine readers have awarded Wonderware First Place in the HMI Software category. Wonderware also tied for First Place in the SCADA Software category. This is the 12th year that Wonderware has received "Readers' Choice" awards from Control magazine in these two categories. More

OSADL (Open Source Automation Development Labs) is an initiative by the open source community to have greater penetration of open source technologies in automation. The impetus for this consortium has mostly come in the form of the new rt-preempt branch of the linux kernel, which claims to provide hard-real time performance which is an absolute necessity for IA and Robotics.
